I am a nri and policy holder of ICICI prudential life stage pension plan. At the time of taking the policy, I was told by the agent that I have to pay minimum two year premium policy. Based on his confirmation I paid rs.200000 in the year 2008 initially and the agent got signature in an unfilled application form. Also I took a critical illness plan at the same time. I have been asked to undergo all medical test ( eventhough I opted 100 % investment and no insurance coverage ) and after a month time I received a booklet with all condition and I noticed that the 2 lac premium is for every six month. I raised this that time but they told that the grace period is over and they denied to modify and the option given was to close and get back very less amount less than 10% of investment). So I had no choice and some how manage to pay for 2years ( 2*2*2 = 8 lac in total) then I forgat it from year 2010 and there was no communication after that. When I recently contacted ICICI pru to redeem my investment due to some urgent requirement, then they are telling me that the account is foreclosed and the chq of 3.5 lac mailed to the address in the record. Unfortunalty I moved out of that country and I have no contact currently as that company also closed. When I reported than they told me that the chq is returned to them as the person is shifted. They never attempted to contact after that. Now to review the policy they are asking me to pay 10 lac one time fee which is of beyond my limitation. Or otherwise they are forcing me to take the 3.5 lac foreclosed chq. Against my 8 lac investment. My concerns are : • I was never informed that it’s a yearly premium policy. I told my agent that the prefered communication is e-mail ID and it is appearing in the application form. • I never got any reminder from ICICI about premium payment or premium default in my e-mail ID. • I never opted from my side for foreclosure. There is no default from my side. And the critical care policy is still effective as I used to get e-mails for premium payment. Now I requested ICICI to revive the policy to pay the balance premium in instaltement instead on one time 10 lac rupees, they are not accepting and forcing me to accept the foreclosed sum of 3.5 lac. I hope you consider my points and help me out in reviving my policy to safe gaurd my capital investement from my hard earn money. Looking forward to revice some guidance and support thankyou regards s kumar

This may be a problem faced by non-residents; the policy may reach them beyond the grace period for rejection/Rectification; authorities should come out with a solution for healthy growth of the life insurance concept and industry.
