Blackberry Curve 8520 handset costly maintenance

I have a blackberry curve 8520 since past 2 years. For past few days, the screen of the set become white. I searched the net and I found the it is common problem of blackberry. I tried few tricks as told by various forums. But the wsod( white screen of death) didn't go. I can still receive the calls, but I cant see caller name'. I also got messages which I am not able to see. Overall my blackberry become old classic telephone instrument now> I went to authorised service centre of blackberry. He told that the LCD screen is to changed and the cost will be around rs. 6600 only !!!!! I returned with bigggg shock !!! I then tried to find latest price of curve 520. On flipkart and naptol -- it is rs 99/- On ebay.In/ Rs 50/- I think one should add rs 2300 to service price of set and get a new one. Too costly service and maintenance of blackberry>..... be careful in using your blackberry... once it become faulty better to throw it out and get a new one ( again blackberry ??) I think the spare part charges are too much high( rs 600) thanks...
