Vodafone sim showing card regisrtation failed

Yesterday, 2012 in the afternoon by around 2 pm my telephone started showing sim card registration failed. My mobile number is 651. I changed from airtel to vodafone. This is the first time this is happening and I am not able to understand why this has happened. Being a sunday I was at a great loss without the phone connection. Today I have to go and check with vodafone office. The company should take care to see that such failures do not repeat. Otherwise they lose their customers. I want my unused prepaid amount of rs.250/- Gets restored. I am giving my alternate telephone number 943. I want immediate response as to what I have to do.
