I booked a consignment from dahej, dist. Bharuch, gujarat to chengannur, dist. Alappuzha, kerala state on saturday, 17 march 2012 through dtdc courier & cargo ltd. Since it was to be delivered fast, I took their "dtdc plus services" paying rs.300/-, Based on the advice of the agency. The agency confirmed that the consignment will be delivered positively on monday 19 march 2012 and informed that the consignment can be tracked on line. While tracking the consignment on monday 19 march 012, with the docket number in the receipt, to my utter dismay, I found that the same is not available in its records. On persistent follow up with their office, I was told that their ankleshwar branch changed the docket number (unilaterally) and the same number was informed to me. On checking with the new number (a22828496), I found the status as "ankaleswar to chennai t/S". Then I called up their bangalore office and I was told that unless it reaches another destination, they will not be able to tell me anything on the consignment. Now, again while checking on 20 march 012, the status was showing same and the consignment reached nowhere. I had a long talk with a representative of dtdc at bangalore registering my protest and requesting to locate the consignment and arranging for a quick delivery. I was told that once it reaches one of its offices only she can help me. Later in the evening on 20th, the consignment was found to have reached coimbatore. Again, while checking on wednesday, 21 march, the consignment is found to have reached cochin apex (but in the meantime it has travelled in a circuitous route ankleswar to ahmedabad to mumbai to coimabtore to cochin to chennai to cochin again. I talked to their bangalore office and cochin office for expediting the delivery. Cochin says that it can be sent only by night and the earliest delivery would be on 22 march. On 22 march it reached the destination but they didn't inform; it was collected from their office, later. On one hand they have taken more money for express delivery service, whereas the docket was handled in most unprofessional manner. Even through a normal courier/ Ordinary post, it would have reached the destination much before this delivery that has taken place, now. I am terribly worried because the document in transit is to be submitted to kerala university for my daughter to appear for her first year engg. Exams. A delay in delivery would debar her from appearing for the exam. My mother-in-law who is over seventy years, and who is local guardian of my daughter, got mentally disturbed due to non-receipt of the consignment. I and my wife also was totally disturbed and I was not able to concentrate in my work since 19th. My calls to dtdc's ho at bangalore though was being attended to, I didn't find any positive impact in actual delivery. Further my request to talk to its CMD was turned down. They were trying to explain me that such failures/ Delays occur occasionally. I seek from your esteemed organisation for getting me justice in this case by 1)arranging for refund of excess charges made 2) compensation for deficiency in services, 3) compensation for my expenses on phone calls and 4) compensation for the mental agony all of us underwent. The certificate has been handed over to my daughter's college late on 22 march; however, I am still not sure whether kerala university accepts and clears my daughter for appearing the exams.
